Santos Bay

We have been catching up on our rest lately, since it is summer time in Brazil and we are on vacation. This past Tuesday was a beautiful day so we decided to take a boat cruise in Santos bay. The cruise was very nice and lasted an hour and a half. The cruise ended up with a brief tour of the port of Santos, which is the largest port in South America. Here are some pictures.

More Christmas Fun

Since our sons and our families live more than 5000 miles away, we are blessed to have some good friends in Brazil that treat us as a part of their families. This year we spent Christmas Eve at our good friends Pr. Odilon and Olga's house with their family, and then we went to Sao Paulo on Christmas Day to spend it with Junior and Elma and their families. We haven't seen our friends Junior and Elma (and families) since last March so it was good to catch up with them.

Both times we were treated as a member of their family and we enjoyed alot of great traditional Brazilian Christmas food and fun. Traditional Brazilian food for Christmas (Natal) includes ham, "chester" which looks similar to turkey but is more like an oversized chicken, other pork & meat dishes, and many other really good Brazilian dishes.

Christmas Fellowship

This past Monday we went to a Christmas party put on by some of our friends at Primeira Igreja Batista Sao Vicente. Pastor Gilberto and his wife Neusa hosted the party at their apartment building, and there were staff members of the church and their families. There was plenty of great food, including our favorite "churrasco", and some great fun and fellowship. We are blessed to have these good friends.

Seminar At Primeira Igreja Batista Sao Vicente

This morning we led a People Sharing Jesus seminar at Primeira Igreja Batista Sao Vicente. About 120 people participated in the seminar, and it went very well. The people in the church seemed to take it to heart that God wants all men to be saved, and that He wants all of us to participate in His work to share Jesus with others and then to make disciples. The church is going to have their yearly New Years Eve outreach ministry event in Sao Vicente, and they wanted to have the seminar to train members and leaders to share Christ with others before the big event. Actually their outreach event is in the early morning hours of New Years day. In Santos and Sao Vicente there is a large fireworks celebration on the beaches that starts just moments before midnight, and afterwards many people linger on the beaches for several hours or even all night, especially many young people. The church has several outreach events going on during this time, designed to share Christ with people on the beach, in the streets, and in hospitals.

Here is a little bit of what Christmas looks like in Santos, Brazil.
